Karachi: “6th Textile Asia 2009 Int’l Exhibition to present revolutionary technologies of more than 329 international brands from 32 countries”, Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig
Dr. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Federal Advisor on Textiles, Government of Pakistan expressed these views as the Chief Guest in Soft Launching of 6th Textile Asia 2009 Int’l Exhibition held on 19th March 2009 in a local hotel. Dr. Khursheed Nizam, President Ecommerce Gateway was also present at the occasion.
Mr. Sohail Aziz, Executive Director, Ecommerce Gateway delivered the Welcome Address, while Textile Commissioner of Pakistan Muhammad Idrees Ahmed and President TEXMAP Pakistan Abbas Moraj also addressed the Soft Launching Ceremony.
Editor Pakistan Textile Journal Mrs. Amina Baqai and C.E.O & M.D Al Murtaza Machinery Asif Rashid also accompanied the Federal Advisor at the occasion.
Dr. Baig said “on the instructions of Prime Minister and President of Pakistan, I am working on getting duty free market access on export of Pakistan textile products to European Union and USA.”
“I have already met Ambassador of Italy, France, Netherlands, United Kingdom, Turkey and Germany and they all assured their support for allowing duty free export of our textile goods to their markets as Bangladesh is getting from these markets”, he added
Appreciating the holding of Textile Asia, he said that “it’s a matter of proud for all of us that Textile Asia is the ONLY Textile & Garment Machinery show of Pakistan and India which is a UFI Approved Event by the Global Association of Exhibition Industry, Paris- France. This worldwide recognition achieved by Dr. Khursheed Nizam and Ecommerce Gateway reflects the proof of high quality, thus providing exhibitors and visitors alike with the assurance that they will benefit from a professionally planned and managed concept. I commend the efforts of Dr. Khursheed Nizam and Ecommerce Gateway on their efforts to restore the business environment and organizing Textile Asia and gathering more than 329 international brands from 32 countries in this difficult period of global economic recession. I am confident that Textile Asia would attract the foreign investors towards the potential of our textile & garment sectors”.
Textile Asia Int’l Textile & Garment Machinery Show is being organized for the 6th consecutive year from 5th to 8th April 2009 at Karachi Expo Centre.
Textile Asia will encompass all the major industries including textile machinery, garment machinery, weaving machinery, embroidery machinery, knitwear machinery and accessories. The Exhibition is poised to play a pivotal role in offering a platform for joint ventures and collaborations among the local textile industry and international entrepreneurs. The Event is designed to act as a podium where it will highlight the products and services of the textile industry not only of Pakistan but also of the International forum.
In order to compete in the international market, the Pakistani Textile & Garment product manufacturers need to continuously upgrade their manufacturing units & machineries. For this, most of our SME sector does not have the resources to send technicians and other experts abroad for research & purchase of Textile & Garment Machineries. Textile Asia thus provides such a platform to our SME sector where all the relevant decision makers jointly visit, test and purchase machineries.
Moreover, the Event on such a large-scale promotes the soft image of Pakistan internationally and the foreign participants return back to their countries remembering Pakistan as the hub of business activities, which is a different perception from the one promoted by the western media. This has a multiplying affect, resulting in increased foreign participation year by year. From Textile Asia, the relevant institutions & students also get aware of the advancements in the sector.
While speaking to media, President Ecommerce Gateway, Dr. Khursheed Nizam said, “Pakistan is striving to increase its textile & garment exports. There is a huge potential for international textile & garment machinery manufacturers to tap this market, which is at the lookout for replacement and up gradation of existing machineries”
He said that more than 30,000 local trade/corporate visitors and more than 100 foreign delegates are expected to attend Textile Asia 2009. Textile Asia will display 329 international brands to the visitors.”
