Vehari (Pak PRwire): ZTBL’s profit of Rs 2 Billion this year has marked another landmark achievement and this initiated the bank to raise our assets by constructing our own buildings. This was stated by the bank’s President Zaka Ashraf in a ground breaking ceremony of ZTBL building at Vehari.
The President said that we are poised to give a commercial look to our bank through maximizing the facilities to our clientele specially the farmers community. He appreciated the architectural designing of the building which would cater the modern day requirements coupled with safety, security& accessibility to our clientele. The ceremony was started with recitation of Holy Quran and was attended by large numbers of dignitaries, local politicians, general public and media men.
In welcome address, the Zonal Chief Sarfraz Azam thanked the President ZTBL for giving time for the ground breaking ceremony of Vehari building. He appreciated the vision of Zaka Ashraf for the development of agriculture through new initiatives. He apprised the audience that the proposed location of the building was commercially viable, safe and secure. It is situated just opposite to Vehari District Administration & Police Head Quarter and Police Lines Adjacent are the offices of Wapda and educational complex and is on Multan Road. It is highly accessible to the farming community as all t Tehsil & Distt Adminstration Offices are very close along with the General Bus stand Vehari.
Later, the consultant of the Project gave a short presentation and giving the salient features apprised that this multistorey building with covered area of 40624 S/F will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 165.313 million. The Project will be completed in fifteen month time. Further the building will comprise of all modern amenities to facilitate the Bank’s clientele in the best suited environment with safety and security.
The President ZTBL, Ch. Zaka Ashraf addressed on the occasion and said that District Vehari in Pakistan especially in Punjab Province is the highest cotton producing district. It is producing more than Sindh Province. The fertile land of Vehari has been declared the best in the world after River Nile in Egypt for the production of cotton staple. The progressive growers and farmers of this district are serving the nation with best agricultural techniques and research not only in cotton but other crops like wheat , sunflower, sugarcane and orchards even in the livestock and poultry sectors of the country.
ZTBL, is playing a pivotal; role in the development of agriculture and livestock sector of the country to alleviate rural poverty and the economic development of Pakistan. Pakistan being agricultural country having 75% exports of cotton, textile and its products. Its farmers are very hardworking and ZTBL is helping to provide them latest techniques at their doorstep through our world known scheme “MCO Scheme”.
The Bank’s chief said that the President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari after his take over as the President has emphasized on the development & growth of agriculture sector and is taking keen interest for the introduction of modern technology in agriculture i-e Hybrid seed varieties of crops , Nanotechnology from Japanese companies for which we have made two memorandum of understanding ( MOU) through which Japan will provide latest agriculture technology to Pakistan to overcome the scarcity of water for crops and to improve per acre yield of the crops in Pakistan .The investment from Japan into Pakistani Agriculture sector will enhance economic activity.
Taking over the charge of President ZTBL, I made revolutionary changes in ZTBL and revamping of the Bank to improves its image as Development Bank for agriculture sector of Pakistan for which I have taken some effective steps which also includes Provision of fertilizers)in kind) to the farmers under Awami Zarai Scheme under KSSL Benazir Tractor Scheme , Collection of utility bills, Receipt of Haj Applications, Launching of Benazir Credit Card.
The Bank’s chief further said that the Bank with this pace of achievement would soon have its own buildings in other Zones which would not only add asset to the Bank but would also add beauty to the respective city.
The President further remarked that our progress is reflection of our tam efforts and dedication of employees that we have been able to earn the 2 Billion profit, increase our deposit base from Rs 1 Billion to Rs 6 Billion and arrested the increase of Non Performing Loans. This has been possible due to the support of People’s Govt and this year we would disburse Rs 74 Billion among the farmers community. The ceremony ended with dua for the successful completion of the project.
