Population Welfare Delegation from Pakistan arrives in Jakarta

Islamabad: A 6-member Pakistan delegation led by Secretary, Ministry of Population Welfare, Mr. Nayyar Agha arrived here late Tuesday on a 3-day visit to Jakarta. Under the directives of the Prime Minister, the delegation is currently undertaking population study tours to Malaysia and Indonesia, says a press release received from Jakarta here today.

During its stay in the Indonesian capital, the delegation will meet senior officials of the Family Planning Coordination Board and also the National Development Planning Board, Indonesia and discuss with them matters pertaining to family planning, reproductive health programmes and measures for maternal and child health.

The delegation is also meeting the Indonesia Ulema Council (MUI) for a detailed discourse on the role of Muslim leaders and Institutions in Family Planning and Reproductive Health Programmes.

Meanwhile members of the delegation Wednesday morning visited the Pakistan Embassy where they were received by Ambassador, Major General ® Ali Baz who briefed them about profile of Indonesia in various fields including administrative, political, and legislative systems and the influence of religious scholars in Indonesian society. He also exchanged with them views on their upcoming meetings with the Indonesian officials to discuss population – related issues.

The delegation includes NWFP Minister for Population Welfare, Mr. Saleem Khan, Moulana Asad Ubaid, Jamia Ashrafia, Lahore, Allama Aaal-e-Ahmad Bilgrami, Karachi, Dr. Amina Khan, Senior Manager Operations, Greenstar Social Marketing, Lahore and Ms. Shirin Sukhan, DPWO, Rawalpindi.
