Islamabad (Pak PRwire): The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) has condemned the attack on the house of DawnNews’s investigative reporter Azaz Syed.
‘It is serious issue to threaten media person, govt must take notice to identify culprits for security of media persons in future,” PFUJ asked.
According to details, some unidentified people attacked the house of a reporter of DawnNews in the early hours of Tuesday and damaged property. The attackers did not cause any physical harm to reporter and his family, and left after hurling stones at the house and damaging his car.
According to Azaz Syed “I have no idea who the attackers were, but suspect that some unidentified were behind the incident,” he said.
The PFUJ stated that such sort of attacks on journalists by unidentified elements show that media is being terrorized,
“It is warning to media that it can be targeted any time and anywhere to bar them from professional duties. But journalists are brave enough that no such act can restrict them from covering truth and facts.”
The PFUJ demanded to the government to take action against the culprits and they should be proceeded with in accordance with law.
The PFUJ has asked President and Prime Minister to take serious notice of the incident and issue urgent orders for Ministry of Interior to investigate the matter to expose the cause of incident and identify culprits to avert any untoward incident against media persons in future.
