Lahore: Cinepax, one of the leading multiplex cinemas in Pakistan, is showcasing several popular movies at the Arts Council for “Hamara Karachi Festival” being celebrated in Karachi from 20th February, 2009 till 8th March 2009.
The Hamara Karachi Festival has always been a source of entertainment for the people. Keeping in mind the interests of the people of Karachi, Cinepax has arranged a movie gala event by showcasing exclusive Pakistani movies. The Gala will be on from 3rd March till 7th March 2009, as a special treat to the people participating in the festival.
Arif Baig Mohamed, Chief Executive Officer of Cinepax, said “I am glad to announce the collaboration of Cinepax and Hamara Karachi Foundation for the second consecutive year. This year, our specialized entertainment package will only include Pakistani movies, because we want to bring back the glorious days of quality Pakistani cinema.”
He further added, “Cinepax is working jointly with the City government to bring world class multiplex cinemas to Karachi and shortly expects to announce a 10m$ investment plan in the city that will bring cinema entertainment back to Karachi and will create hundreds of jobs for the people of the city.”
Nasreen Jalil, Naib City Nazima Karachi said, “The aim of celebrating Hamara Karachi festival is to highlight the identity of Karachi, the culture and traditions of its settlers and to create harmony and cohesion amongst them. Hamara Karachi Festival is an effort to provide recreational facilities to the masses which are available to the elite and to facilitate understanding amongst various religious and ethnic communities enhancing tolerance and compassion.” She also stated, “I hope that people will highly appreciate the exhibition of some of Pakistan’s popular films by Cinepax.”
This activity will be featured at the Arts Council, Karachi from 8:00 pm onwards presenting famous movies which were made in Karachi like Arman on 3rd March, followed by Doraha on 4th, Andaleeb on 5th, Insan Aur Gadha on 6th and will conclude with Shaani on 7th March 09’.
