Islamabad: Scouting is a movement of youth for the development of their spiritual intellectual, physical and social traits. Scout activities help in making them more responsible and more patriots. Scouting is highly useful productive and help character building and reformation of once personality. More than 28 million youth (boys and girls) are celebrating the World Scout Day. The major event will take place on 22nd February. The colorful and mega events are being managed in 160 countries from National to local level. Pakistan Boy scouts Association has also arranged several activities/ events all over the country. Main events being held at National Headquarters Islamabad are the 10th National Snow Hike and holding of Best Scout Selection Camp. Director Training and Programme. Mr. Abuzar Mansoor is organizing both the events.
10th National Rover Scouts Snow Hike has been organized from 18-22 February 2009 in which more than 90 Rovers from all over Pakistan including PIA & Pakistan Railways are participating. The Hikers will reach Khanaspur via Barian, Opening Ceremony of the Hike was held at National Headquarters, PBSA, Islamabad. Chief Guest Lt. Col. Hashmat Abbas (Retd) National Secretary, PBSA was the Chief Guest. In his address to the Rovers, he said Scouting provides a platform to serve humanity. It helps promoting and strengthening brotherhood, gives an exposure and opportunity to interact and work in harmony with each other and serve the people without any feeling for blood, colour, creed and race. It has no geographical boundaries. The hiking as an essential activity of Scouting helps not only in physical development but also the intellectual growth. National Hikes also provide a good chance to meet Scouts from different areas of Pakistan, understand each other work together and develop better National Integration and love for each other. The Closing Ceremony of the hike will be held on 22 February 2009 at National Headquarters, PBSA, Islamabad.
Another major event is the Best Scout Selection Camp for presidents Gold Medal. Scouts selected at Provincial level will be the participants for this 4 day camp. Selected Scouts will be awarded Presidential gold Medal along with a Certificate signed by His Excellency the President/ Chief Scout of Pakistan, Mr. Muneer Ahmed Bhullar, Secretary National Training & Programme Sub Committee from Sindh, Mr. Abdul Majeed Bhatti, former Secretary Punjab Boy Scouts Association and Mr. Abuzar Mansoor, Director Training and Programme of PBSA will select the Best Scouts of the year.
